Southold Summer Intensive Begins June 11

Southold’s Summer Intensive focuses on developing well-rounded dancers by exposure to a wide variety of disciplines with an emphasis on classical ballet technique and key elements of ABT’s National Training Curriculum.  Intensive students have the opportunity to develop skills, experience, and discipline which are necessary foundations for a professional dance career.  Intensive classes will be taught by Southold artistic staff and world class guest teachers that are dedicated to the learning process and growth of each individual student.

The Junior Intensive

Level I & II (By Audition or Current Southold Ballet I & II)

Session I – June 18 to June 22, 2012

Session II – June 25 to June 29, 2012

9:30am – 1:00pm

This two-week comprehensive ballet program will be enhanced with the opportunity to learn repertoire and exposure to a variety of dance disciplines as well as special body conditioning work for improved alignment and overall physical well-being. The Program is led by Artistic Director Erica Fischbach and members of Southold Dance Theater’s faculty. An informal presentation for friends and family at the end of the intensive will complete their experience.

The Pre Professional Intensive

For Intermediate and Advanced Ballet Students. By Placement or Current Southold Ballet III and above.

June 11 to June 29, 2012

9:30am – 3:30pm – Levels VI & VII

9:30am – 3:00pm – Levels IV & V

9:30am – 3:00pm – Level III

This three week program is designed to meet the needs of serious students interested in maximizing their professional career potential. The rigorous curriculum explores multiple technical and artistic aspects of ballet technique and disciplines. Additionally, students expand their dance horizons by participating in jazz, modern and character classes and honing their physical abilities in Pilates-based conditioning workshops. Southold Dance Theater offers an exceptional combination of high-quality instruction and personal attention that will take each student to new levels of excellence.

Class size for the Pre-Professional Intensive will be limited, and students will share their many varied accomplishments in a public presentation at the end of the intensive.
