Explore Creativity and Movement at Southold’s Summer Camps!

Southold Dance Camps introduce your dancer to a wonderful world of fun, creativity and movement.  Our camps expose your child to a wide variety of music, dance, instructors and new friends!  Each camp is theme based and works with the individual personalities of the campers.  Southold camps are a wonderful way of trying different types of dance classes for a short period of time.

Move, Make, Create! Explore! Art and Dance Camp
July 30- August 3rd
Ages 3 to 5   9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Ages 6 to 9   9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Ages 10 to13   1:00- 4:00 p.m.

Use music and movement to explore the wonderful world of dance and art! A unique collaboration between two of South Bend’s cultural gems, Southold Dance and South Bend Museum of Art are joining forces this summer to bring you a camp that is good for the brain and body, but most importantly is fun! Join us as we investigate the connections between music, dance and art, using an assortment of art techniques and cool dance moves.  This year campers will explore masterpieces. Students might dance to Vivaldi and meet Van Gogh or hear the beauty of Mozart and see a Monet!  The week will be filled with surprises and concludes with an informal mini-performance and art exhibit for family and friends.

Ballet Stories
Ages 3 to 5
Dates: August 6 – August 10
Times: 9:30am – 11:30am

This camp gives young dancers a wonderful summer experience learning all about classical ballet by using the famous fairytale ballets, including Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, for inspiration and creativity. Each day children take a creative movement / pre-ballet class: after a short break, they will explore a classical ballet through the characters, storyline, music and mime. The stories will come alive with the students’ own natural movement and creativity. Dancers will also participate in enriching activities such as games and arts & crafts. The camp concludes with an informal mini-performance of ballet excerpts adapted to fit the age and experience level of the young dancers.

Ballet Camp
Ages 6 to 9
Dates: August 6 – August 10
Times: 9:30am – 12:30pm

Students begin with a classical ballet class followed by a ballet workshop focused on creative expression and movement. The program includes a many other fun activities, including creative dance with storytelling and dress-up, as well as studies of other dance forms, including, jazz, modern, and lyrical. Students will also be introduced to ballet costuming, props and scenery painting. The week concludes with an informal mini-performance for family and friends.
