Jenny Claire Smith began taking ballet lessons at the age of four and has continued her dance training for the past eighteen years. A Georgia native, Jenny took classes in classical ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and modern at Dance Arts, Inc., in Valdosta, Georgia, where she also served on the studio faculty in the Primary division as well as an assistant instructor in the Advanced division. Jenny has taken master classes and summer intensives from Valery Lantratov, Francis Patrelle, Jeffrey Rockland, Joan Buttram, and Jay Jernigan. She also completed over twenty-five credit hours of elective coursework in ballet, pointe, and tap in the Department of Dance at Valdosta State University where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, summa cum laude, as well as a Master of Arts degree in History. She moved to South Bend in Fall 2015 to begin a PhD in early modern British history at the University of Notre Dame. This is Jenny’s second year as faculty at Southold.
